The sensNORM association was founded by brand manufacturers in the field of motion and presence detectors in 2014. Over the years, a standardised procedure has been developed in the association in order to be able to measure the products in a standardised, automated and qualitative manner. The objective is to offer users and planners security in the planning of sensors in lighting control and to build trust in control by sensors. Bundled by sensNORM, the members offer supplementary and supporting information for professional sensor planning. Ongoing knowledge for the successful use of sensors in modern lighting control is provided through sensNORM's website and LinkedIn channel and additionally the members' own channels. This knowledge is summarised for electrical planners and installers in a sensor guide that can be ordered from SLG (
1) Sensor technology supports people
Sensors in buildings (especially presence and motion detectors) serve as an 'interface' between people and technology to control lighting and other building services. When used properly, they support energy optimisation, increase comfort and ensure the safety of users and the building at all times. Sensors also optimise the service life of the systems and make a significant contribution to our environment through the sustainable, sensible use of energy.
2) sensNORM supports the planner, installer and builder.
sensNORM stands for competence in all aspects of standardisation and the use of sensor technology in buildings. We inspire market participants for the potential of modern, sensor-controlled solutions and support planners, installers and builders with knowledge and competences for application-oriented and optimised implementation in buildings. This increases the acceptance of sensor-controlled solutions and the full potential in energy saving and operating cost optimisation is tapped. By developing measurement methods and quality characteristics for sensors, we create the basis for the plannability and reliability of technology in everyday life. This creates confidence among all players in the market. To this end, we drive international standardisation, develop it further and inspect systems. The sensNORM logo is awarded on this basis.
3) sensNORM supports the sensor manufacturer
As an association of manufacturers and specialists in all aspects of sensor technology in building services engineering, we are a cross-manufacturer network and thus act as a compass for specialist lighting and users.
